New research has revealed the EVs that can drive the furthest after a single charge, with Tesla failing to reach the top 5!

The study, conducted by electric vehicle experts at DriveElectric looked at the EVs with the highest range on a single charge and ranked them to reveal the car with the highest range. The study also looked at the most energy-efficient EVs.

First on the list is the Mercedes EQS 450+, which can drive up to a stellar 395 miles just on a single charge making it one of the best electric cars on the market. 

 Said to offer an ‘absolutely novel driving experience that is second to none,’ this top-rated electric vehicle provides a taste of the future. It is priced at £102,160

 Mercedes takes another spot in the top three -  with the Mercedes EQS AMG 43 4MATIC+ landing in second place. Not only does it have a range of 350 miles, but its top speed can reach as high as 155 mph - going from 0 to 62 mph in a matter of just 3.4 seconds. 

 In third place is the Lightyear 0 with a range of 340 miles. The 0 is the first model of Dutch manufacturer Lightyear and this all-electric vehicle can be charged at a charging point as well as through the use of direct energy from solar panels. 

 The study also looked at the most energy-efficient EVs.

The Lightyear 0 comes in at number one as one of the most efficient EVs on the market with an efficiency of 176 wh/mi. This long-range all-solar electric car can drive for months without charging. 

 The Tesla Model 3 is second on the list. Designed for the best electric-powered performance, quick acceleration, long range and fast charging - the Tesla Model 3 is no doubt one of the most sought-after EVs. Named ‘the car of the future’, the Tesla Model 3 has an energy consumption of 245 wh/mi, making it extremely efficient. 

 The Tesla Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor EV takes third place with an efficiency of 250 wh/mi. Considered to be the world’s most popular plug-in electric vehicle in 2021, this much-loved EV sold roughly 501,000 units worldwide in that same year.
